Casa Palestina · Alcântara, Lisboa
Work With Us
The Casa is built by the people inside it. Since we opened in April we have hosted over sixty events and welcomed more than two thousand guests through the door. Keeping a house like this standing takes cooks, servers, coordinators and organisers who understand that hospitality here is a form of responsibility rather than a service. We are hiring across the floor, the programme and the building ahead of the Fall and Winter seasons.

Three things that are true of every role in the house, whichever door you come through.
The house comes first
Casa Palestina is women-led and collectively run. Everyone who works here is credited by name, but it is the house we put forward, not any one of us. You will be given real ownership of your work and trusted to hand it over cleanly when someone else picks it up.
Hospitality is political
This is the first permanent Palestinian cultural institution in Portugal. People arrive carrying things: grief, anger, curiosity, relief at finding somewhere that does not ask them to explain themselves. Hosting well here means holding that with care, and holding the line on how this culture is represented.
Learn the whole house
A kitchen, a stage, a bar and an archive share one building on Rua Gilberto Rola. Nobody works only their own section. You will learn how a service night and an event night fit together, and there is room to grow into programming, operations or management as the house grows.

Open Roles
All roles are based at Rua Gilberto Rola 24 in Alcântara. Our operating week runs Tuesday to Sunday, and we are hiring ahead of the September programme.
Palestinian Chef
You own the food: the menu, the recipes, the standard and the pass. Palestinian cooking made properly, named properly, and taught to the kitchen that cooks it beside you. Substantial experience with Palestinian or wider Levantine food required. Portuguese and Arabic are both an advantage.

You run a section on the floor, and on most nights you do it while a concert, a screening or a talk is happening in the same building. Guests arrive for a meal and often stay for something else entirely. Full-time and part-time positions available.

You turn the programme into organised, well-executed events: the calendar, the artists, the run sheets, the ticketing and the door. Around fifteen to twenty hours a week, mixing remote administration with in-person event support. Strong English, with Portuguese highly valuable and Arabic a big plus.

You run everything around the food: ordering, stock, cost, rotas, equipment and the kitchen's food safety compliance. The Chef sets the standard on the plate. You make it possible to hit that standard every service, at the right cost, in a kitchen that would pass an inspection on any given Tuesday. HACCP certification and working Portuguese and English required.

You run the restaurant day to day: the floor, the bar, the staff, the suppliers, and full compliance with Portuguese food safety and licensing law. You will open the room and set its standard, working alongside the kitchen leads and FOH Staff. Fluent Portuguese and English required.

A CV and a few paragraphs. We would like to read why you want to work in this particular house than a formal cover letter.
A conversation
If there is a fit, we will invite you in to meet the team and see the space before anything else happens.
A shift in the house
For the restaurant roles, a trial shift on the floor. You will meet the kitchen, work a real service, and see what a night here is actually like.
Open Call for Creatives
If you are an artist, a musician or a maker, the Open Call for Creatives form is the right door for you.
