What does it mean to inherit the memory of a homeland and to search through history for the forces that took it away?

Casa Palestina welcomes Palestinian-British author and award-winning film producer Hanan Kattan for a conversation about her new book, Palestine Revealed.

Beginning with her grandmother’s key to the family home in Jerusalem, the book traces the systematic dispossession of the Palestinian people from the emergence of political Zionism in the late nineteenth century to the ongoing Nakba and the devastation of Gaza today.

Moving between personal memory and political history, Hanan examines the ideologies, institutions and international interests that have shaped Palestine’s story. She asks how displacement was enabled, how dominant narratives were constructed and why Palestinian voices continue to be silenced.

The evening will include a conversation with Hanan, followed by audience questions and reflections.

Hanan Kattan is a Palestinian-British author, award-winning film producer and the founder of The Enlightenment Podcast, which brings together leading voices in conversations about Palestine.

Born into a Palestinian family from Jerusalem and Bethlehem, Hanan’s connection to Palestine is deeply personal. Her mother survived the Nakba and was forcibly displaced from West Jerusalem in 1948—an inherited history that forms the emotional foundation of Palestine Revealed.

Hanan co-founded Enlightenment Productions with filmmaker and author Shamim Sarif. Her film work includes I Can’t Think Straight, The World Unseen, Despite the Falling Snow and Polarized. Across her writing, filmmaking, and public conversations, she explores identity, memory, justice, and the structures that shape whose stories are heard.
